The 4,000 Islands (Si Phan Don) in southern Laos form a tranquil Mekong River archipelago near the Cambodian border, where, in the dry season, thousands of islets, sandbanks, and larger inhabited islands—such as Don Det, Don Khon, and Don Khong—emerge. Known for its unhurried pace, French colonial ruins, waterfalls, and sweeping river views, the region provides a unique and evocative backdrop.

From the heart of the lower Mekong, Sativa Laos 4000 Islands (Si Phan Don) stands as a masterful representation of pure Southeast Asian sativas. This strain has been shaped by an environment of striking contrasts, where fertile alluvial soils and scorching tropical winds have forged a genetic profile of exceptional resilience.

Botanically, it is distinguished by its explosive growth vigour and elegant structure, with slender, flexible stems crowned by leaves composed of thin, deeply serrated leaflets. It is a plant refined by nature to withstand extreme conditions; its airy form enables it to endure powerful gusts of wind and critical humidity levels that would overwhelm conventional varieties.

The grower who undertakes the challenge of its life cycle, spanning 14 to 16 weeks of vegetative growth followed by a further 14 to 16 weeks of flowering, is rewarded with a harvest of ethereal yet richly resinous buds that capture the essence of Laotian sativas. Its organoleptic profile delivers a refined sensory experience, releasing an intense aroma of aromatic herbs with a dominant note of sweet lemon, which develops on the palate into nuanced hints of fresh roses.

With a medium-to-high yield and a notably high THC percentage for a landrace, its effect is distinctly active, euphoric, and motivating, keeping the mind alert and clear for hours. In our field trials, we have identified and preserved four principal phenotypes, maintaining the genetic range as broad as possible to ensure continued vigour. Furthermore, it has demonstrated remarkable adaptability, thriving with ease from sea level up to 2,700 metres ( 8800 ft ) above sea level, making it an indispensable collector’s specimen for advanced plant breeding and for the connoisseur seeking the electrifying authenticity of the Southeast Asian jungles.
